The GoPure pod is a portable, reusable water filter that can be placed in any vessel, coffee pot or pitcher. With so much concern over the cleanliness of water, including the effects of plastic leaching, GoPure are hoping to put your mind at rest.
According to the brand, recent studies reveal that the cancer-causing chemical, chromium 6, has been found in the water of more than 218 million American households. That’s two-thirds of the country. In response, the brand has created a one-of-its-kind portable water purifier that filters not only chromium 6, but other harmful impurities in bottled and tap water.
At the heart of the GoPure pod is an advanced porous ceramic structure. It’s made from a special combination of food-grade ingredients and a natural mineralized material known as Diatomaceous Earth. The porous structure results in a high surface area with the water in which it is placed. If present in the water, a range of impurities can then be adsorbed onto the ceramic. These may include soluble and particulate matter including those responsible for creating stale tastes and odours. The ceramic can also replace minerals lost in the water. This balancing activity, together with adsorption of impurities, imparts a fresher taste.
Unlike other water filters on the market, the GoPure pod is fully portable. It can be used in any vessel and can re-mineralize and balance the pH of water. Furthermore, the pod can be reused. Each pod will keep working for up to six months and can treat up to 264 gallons of water.
According to the brand’s adviser Professor Ronald Russell:
It’s easy to understand the public concern regarding water quality and its taste. Not only are disturbing amounts of pharmaceuticals found in the nation’s water supplies; but pesticides and herbicides from farming use, contaminants from fracking, industrial wastes and even rocket fuel can also be found. Much of the tap water in the United States is susceptible to these types of pollution. But unfortunately the municipal water treatment processes in place cannot always do enough. Our mission with the GoPure pod is to give the world peace of mind that the water they’re drinking is healthy, clean and better tasting.
The GoPure pod hits the market in mid-November 2016 and will retail for $25.
