You’ve probably heard of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, ran by the Natural History Museum (NHM) in London—after all, it’s ONLY the most famous and prestigious nature photography award going!
This year marks the fifty-second year that the NHM have run the photo comp., and the exhibition opens on 21 October. To give us a little taste, though, a selection of images, including category finalists and top-picks, have been released.
The NHM explained, in a press release, that “this year’s competition was the most competitive to date—attracting almost 50,000 entries from professionals and amateurs across 95 countries.”
A curious fox cub, hungry hornbill and inquisitive orca all play a starring role in the gallery. The photos are simply breathtaking and highlight the natural world at it’s best.
The full exhibition will feature 100 images, revealing the “astonishing diversity of life on our planet and highlighting our crucial role in protecting it.”
“The images will also embark on an international tour spanning six continents, bringing the majesty and wonder of the natural world to millions.”
Images speak louder than words, though, so enjoy the gallery and let us know your favourite in the comments below.
