The world’s first longboard park opened last weekend. The park is located in Kamloops, Canada at the top of Pacific Way and looks really fun. Two downhill stretches of super smooth asphalt/pavement make up the park. The intermediate/blue course features a longer stretch with more twists and turns, for buttery pre-drifts and slides. While the Black Diamond run is setup with a steeper more direct slope, down the hill, for hill riding and stand-up slides.
Most riders were completely stoked with the new park, though one criticism was that the track was a little short. While the park is too short for racing, the setup looks pretty nice for slide jam competitions and honing freeride slide tricks.
The main advantage of the park is the fact that there is zero traffic (which is great from both cars and longboarders). Kamloops new longboard park therefore sets a great example of what many local authorities throughout the world should be doing to support the development of longboarding and other action sports.
