There’s something special about longboarding. While short board surfing has been progressing at quite a pace, with new innovative shapes and styles being tested and developed on a daily basis, the tried and tested rhythm of longboarding remains pure. That’s not to say that longboard surfing hasn’t moved forward; there are some really aggressive styles being showcased on the world stage, but at it’s core the flow and fluidity holds true. Whether you’re watching or surfing, longboarding slows everything down, almost as if you are experiencing the world in slow motion, so that the moment lasts just that little bit longer.
The video above shows exactly what I’m talking about. Two mates, Tommy Witt & Corey Colapinto, weaving in and out of beach break traffic in elegant fashion, slowing everything down a notch (except for their feet) – what could be better than this?
